We really enjoy giving to organizations that share our core values. In fact, T1 Shopper gives a portion (more than 5%) of our profits to several organizations, three of which are listed below. With a few exceptions, T1 Shopper seeks out organizations that provide sustainable, long term value to individuals and communities. T1 Shopper's board personally selects the organizations it contributes to and is not accepting applications from new organizations at this time.
Plant With Purpose was founded in 1984 to provide economic development that would be sustainable and benefit the environment. Plant With Purpose sought to make lasting change through development that restored productivity to degraded land and dignity to the rural poor, while providing opportunities for upcoming generations. Plant With Purpose sees that poverty and environmental degradation are intimately connected and thus provides long term community development though teaching and promoting agroforestry, reforestation and soil conservation. Plant With Purpose provides long term micro credit to accomplish these goals so that people can afford to progress beyond bare subsistence, as well as to diversify their village economies. Plant With Purpose sees that micro-enterprise credit is the world’s most effective poverty fighter.
T1 Shopper has been partnered with Plant With Purpose since 2004 and among other things appreciates its long term commitment to the success of the people it serves, its innovative approach to solving the problem as well as its selection of educated people that have the talent to provide expert advice.
Habitat for Humanity International ("Habitat") was founded in 1976 and like Floresta, seeks to improve the long term success of people by providing long term value in the the form of housing. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Habitat has built more than 225,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
T1 Shopper is on Habitat's "Partner Council" and has been partnered with Habitat since 2005. Among other things we appreciate Habitat's long term commitment to the success of the people it serves as well as its reverence for the people they serve regardless of their current station in life.
Meals On Wheels ("MOWAA") is the oldest and largest organization in the United States representing those who provide meal services to people in need. It is a member organization, and its membership comprises mostly of senior nutrition programs in the United States. MOWAA member programs throughout the country provide nutritious meals and other nutrition services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail, or at risk. These services significantly improve the quality of life and health of the individuals they serve and postpone early institutionalization.
T1 Shopper has been partnered with Meals on Wheels since 2007 however our owner's grandmother has been serving in the Pasadena, California chapter for more than 25 years. Meals On Wheels shares our core value of independence by seeking to keep people free from early institutionalization.
Kiva was founded in 2004 to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending. As of November 2009, Kiva has facilitated over $100 million in loans.
T1 Shopper has been partnered with Kiva since 2011 and among other things appreciates its beliefs that people are motivated to be generous, successful and encouraging as a result of personal relationships. Kiva shares our core values of "making others successful" by assisting the rural poor; "being reverent" by calling out dignity and respect for the rural poor; and "innovate" by using the Internet to partner with rural poor entrepreneurs worldwide.
